ConGRADulations to Caleb and Jill

On Friday, Caleb and Jill (Jesse's brother and sister-in-law) graduated from East Carolina University!  Hooray!! Even though I have known both of them for a long time, it seems as though they have always been married and in college.  Now it is time for a new season in their life and I can't wait to be a part of the adventure!

In reflection on my own graduation, I began to ask the question...

"If I could travel back in time to give myself one piece of advice upon my graduation day, what would it be?"

I think that a huge lesson I have learned over the past few years is to take the time to find out who you are and be ok with that, no matter the expectations that are put on you by the world, your family, your friends, or even your own preconceptions about what your life was "supposed" to be.  I would tell myself to relax and be excited about all the adventures, good and bad, to be had!

Ok, enough of my philosophical ramblings...

what advice would you give your younger self?

Anniversary

I just bought a new Watermark CD, including this song.  It spoke to my heart, especially considering the anniversary of our miscarriage is coming up April 15th.  And the healing continues...

Glory Baby

Glory baby you slipped away
as fast as we could say baby...baby..
You were growing, what happened dear?
You disappeared on us baby...baby..
Heaven will hold you before we do
Heaven will keep you safe until we're home with you...
Until we're home with you...

Miss you everyday
Miss you in every way
But we know there's a
day when we will hold you
We will hold you
You'll kiss our tears away
When we're home to stay
Can't wait for the day when we will see you
We will see you
But baby let sweet Jesus hold you
'till mom and dad can hold you...
You'll just have heaven before we do
You'll just have heaven before we do

Sweet little babies, it's hard to
understand it 'cause we're hurting
We are hurting
But there is healing
And we know we're stronger people through the growing
And in knowing-
That all things work together for our good
And God works His purposes just like He said He would...
Just like He said He would...

BRIDGE:
I can't imagine heaven's lullabies
and what they must sound like
But I will rest in knowing, heaven is your home
And it's all you'll ever know...all you'll ever know...

Laissez les bons temps roule!

I have to admit that I am a HUGE American Idol fan... after last season, I am addicted!  And this is the first year that I actually called in to vote, because I was really sad to see "Sway" leave last week.  I much preferred him to some of the other guys who have stuck around.

Well, here are my personal rankings if you are interested!...

Girls:

1. Katharine - man, does that girl have control of her voice... she makes it seem effortless... I am totally jealous!

2. Mandisa - the sista' can sing... she is fun to watch.

3. Paris - can you believe the difference between her awesome, jazzy singing voice and her Minnie mouse speaking voice? She rocks... especially when she sang "Fever"

4. Kellie - southern girls represent!  She is cute (but is she really that airheaded?) and gets the "most improved award"... I also love the story of her life

5. Lisa - She is so collected on stage... and has a great voice.  I'm with the judges, though, I want her to sing some "younger" songs...

6. Melissa - I really like her and do not want her to go the same way as Sway... so, I voted for her a lot last night.  I really like her tone.

7. Kannik - I know she is from Columbia, South Cackalakee, but there were too many sour notes last night... I think she might be packing her bags

8. Ayla - I know that she is young and I give her props for doing something I could never do, but for some reason I don't "connect" with her...

Guys:

1. Chris - ROCK ON! He has been my favorites since the beginning!  I love his story and I'm glad he brings some rock to the stage to break up all the kareoke songs...

2. Taylor - Although he sometimes looks like he is having seizures on stage, he has a great soulful voice and is very entertaining...

3. Elliot - When he sang that Stevie Wonder song last week, my jaw dropped... he is an amazing singer

4. Ace - Ok, so he did give me the heebie-jeebies when he sang "Father Figure" with his looks at the camera (reminiscent of Constantine, who also gave me the heebie jeebies), but he has grown on me and I like the way he goes from his regular voice to falsetto... very Justin Timberlake-ish, except gay?  i dunno...

5.  Bucky - ok, another southerner who keeps saying how "he don't know what all this fancy, new-fangled stuff is in LA"... getting a little old, but I do like his rocking country voice.

6. Gedeon - so, Simon was probably wrong for saying that his smile is weird, but it is a little like the Cheshire cat's... he has a good voice, but I don't love the songs he picks.

7.  Will - before I knew his name, I used to call him the "young John Mayer"... just the looks... I think Will did a great job singing James Taylor tonight, but I don't think it was enough to keep him around

8.  Kevin - Even though they keep playing him up as a "stud" (pinching his cheeks, etc), I still think he sounds like a Josh Groban wanna be.  I think it's awesome he has come this far, but I think it's time for him to go...

Ok, I think you get some award if you read through that whole thing!!  I can't wait until tomorrow night to see if my predictions are correct!  Let the good times roll!

Can autism be "cured"? Not at the moment, but here is a story where one kid with autism "beat the odds" in a game of basketball. Read on... (but you may need a kleenex!)
